It was fun being able to fly with Caleb and Luke to KY for the funeral. We picked up Andrew from a different airport because he was flying in from Oregon, and then we found this cool seafood place for dinner. They give you whatever seafood you want cooked and marinated in a plastic bag, and then you put on a big and some gloves and go for it!
We stayed at a cabin in the Natural Bridge State Park. It was a place that dad grew up staying at, so we heard some of his memories of getting souvenirs at the gift shop and hiking in the mountains. It was very beautiful! It was so fun staying up until 3am talking with my brothers too! They are some of my favorite people, and I am so lucky to have them!
I miss Gran, but it's hard to be too sad when she lived 93 years of a very beautiful life here! And she just died in her sleep and probably didn't experience and pain or fear! Dad gave the eulogy, the boys and I spoke, and Andrew played the guitar and sang. Dad asked me to play the closing song on the piano, The Lord is My Light. For one thing, I don't play well while people sing, and this was a song I had never played before. The other thing, is the attendees had never heard nor sang this song ever before. It worked out nicely for me though, because I started playing and no one knew the song so they just got up and started chatting! Hallelujah! I only had to play one verse!
