We have been SO excited for Alanna's "friend" birthday party with a Hello Kitty theme- of course! For my kids, it's not a party without a piñata. Here Alanna is, the night before, licking her piñata!
I wish I were a better artist, but I think these sugar cookies were pretty cute anyway. The boys said that Hello Kitty is delicious!
A white chocolate mousse cake with berries was Alanna's very own personal mini cake. The surprise ingredient was quinoa! The chocolate cake was amazingly moist and chocolaty, and no one could even tell that it was made with cooked quinoa instead of refined flour!
We dined on pizza rolls, Doritos, mini cupcakes, sugar cookies, pink popcorn, watermelon, and strawberry Kool-Aid. The kids LOVED the Kool-Aid. I grew up on the stuff, but I wonder if moms these days don't buy it because these cuties acted like they'd never tasted this heavenly beverage :)
Still can't believe that my little beauty is 5! She wanted a braid and curled hair, and pink, blue, and white nail polish for the occasion. It's fun to see her planning her outfits, and they are starting to make more sense these days.
I'm so glad we had our two boy friends, Andrew and Deklin, here. They are quite the characters and kept all of the girls giggling and begging for their attention. The beginnings of flirting I suppose...
After lunch and application of Hello Kitty tattoos for all, we played a game of pin the bow on Hello Kitty. It was hilarious to watch how far away the kids would wander off since they were blind folded and turned around. Paul thought he was funny and stood in front of a couple of the kids who had wondered, and they actually put their bows onto Paul :)
Balloon Ping Pong with Hello Kitty "rackets" was a huge hit. Do kids ever grow out of balloons? They could have done this for hours!
Luckily, all of the kids got a turn or two to hit the piñata. One of the boys finally cracked it as I was running up to the deck to get aerial shots. So fun to watch them hoard the candy! The girls each gave the ice cream cone a couple of "taps", while Andrew and Deklin smote that piñata with all of their might!
Kenna and Alanna (Lego Friends Barbie car). Kenna is Alanna's dance buddy, and they love to do tumbling tricks together. Jackson was more than willing to help Alanna construct the Lego creation right after the party!
Andrew and Alanna. We carpooled to preschool with Andrew, and there was a period of time when she would tell me that she was going to "marry Andrew and move far, far away to Salt Lake!"
Andrew gave her a Webkin Pony and sidewalk chalk! She sleeps with the pony now.
Kamdyn and Alanna. They have been good friends for years and are now in the same class in Kindergarten and ride the bus together. They butchered their hair together! Kam gave Alanna a set of modeling clay that all of the kids have been obsessed with for days!
Lucy and Alanna. Loves Lucy's big brown eyes. She lives around the corner and they get together to play often and tumble together. These p.j.s were perfect, and Alanna has tried to pass them off as normal clothes because they are so comfy!
Josephine and Alanna. She is such a little beauty, and she is often referred to as "Jofeen", coined by Blaze, at our house! She and Alanna love to play Barbies at our house, so this Barbie fashion plate set is perfect. I had something similar as a kid, and I have to admit, I couldn't wait to play with this myself!
Cousin Kaia and Alanna. She loves Hello Kitty just as much as Alanna it sounds! She gave Alanna a really cute Hello Kitty shirt that Alanna tries to wear even when it's dirty!
Cousin Makayla and Alanna. She gave Alanna a cool stationary set and Hello Kitty art supplies. Alanna has been busily making art creations which I love!
Andrew is a little clown! Love this guy!
Sweet, sweet Halie! Alanna always sits by Halie in Primary because they both like to be reverent together :) And you can always spot a package from Halie because her mom is a very talented and creative gift wrapper/scrapbook er! More art supplies for Alanna's stash!
Isabelle and Alanna. They are in playgroup together and she knew Alanna would love this LaLa Loopsy Pillow Featherbed doll. Alanna sleeps with her too!
Deklin and Alanna went to preschool together too. He is one of the funniest kids I know too. I think he might be a professional entertainer some day! James was subbing his primary class one time, and Deklin was Nemo that day. They played freeze dance, and Deklin was swimming on the floor, or course, when another kids accidently stepped on Deklin's hand. Deklin's response was "Hey! You stepped on my fin!" He is all boy, but he was a good sport about the Hello Kitty theme! Alanna now has a Hello Kitty Scrap book that we can fill with pictures of her party, and a cute necklace and earrings - Hello Kitty of course!
Jocelyn and Alanna. They have been friends for years, since they started walking. Her mom, Brita, and dad, Lane, are quite the punks! We love them though! Jocelyn came into the party with the biggest gift bag we have ever seen. My suspicions began! Sure enough, there was a huge Sam's Club size box of the most sugary cereals available, and some Hello Kitty toys! But...they make fun of me for trying to feed my kids healthy food and limit their sugar intake. So, I'm sure they loved giving our family pure sugar for breakfast. I told Lane he is just lucky he's in the bishopric now and doesn't teach Alanna in Primary anymore - he would be reaping his rewards from her sugar high!
James may have been the most excited about the sugar cereal! I saw him take this photo of himself!
Love my itty bitty SOOOO much! She is such a sweet, kind, thoughtful, and smart girl!
