Just had to throw in my sleeping baby!
One Saturday morning, Caleb called and said " Hey guys, you wanna go to Moab today?" And of course, James said "sure, why not!". But we had a wedding reception to attend that evening that James had been looking forward to because Dean Thiriot was going to be there. See how excited he looks to be with Dean! So we went down to the reception in Provo that evening, and then continued on to Moab!
Jackson and Paul got to ride down with Caleb and Cache earlier in the afternoon and checked out the park and dinner at Denny's (their choice), where Jackson chose the ginormous Lumberjack meal! Caleb is an awesome uncle!
It was a treacherous climb up to Delicate Arch because there was a lot of snow and ice. On the narrow part right before you turn to get to the arch, it was completely iced over except for about 6 inches right next to the rock. We were literally hugging the rock and trying to stay in the narrow clear area without ice. People on the other side were grabbing onto us as they passed on the ice on the other side. It was a little nerve wracking, especially with 5 kids in tow. We made it there and back alive to tell the story though! My kids were running all around the spiral bowl that is pictured behind us. It made me sooo nervous, especially since our feet were wet. So I kept Cache sitting with me on a huge rock, far away from the drop, and just kept taking deep breaths as I watched my little monkeys run without a care in the world!
I'm not one to take spontaneous trips, but I'm so glad that Caleb invited us along and was an awesome tour guide! I had only been once, and the rest of the family hadn't ever been. I think I still prefer to see these sights in the summer, sans snow and ice, but we still had so much fun exploring beautiful UT. Notice we were all sporting Caleb's 33 hats he makes! A few people asked us where we got them, and it was fun to tell them that Caleb makes them!
